For the first time in history, a plot has been granted for constructing a Masjid by His Highness Dr. Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, in the name of  Masjid Al Fatemiyeen Al Bohra. This is no mean feat especially in the Gulf region.

The Masjid is being built on a 2,654 square meters plot (of 28,566 square feet) in the Al Manakh area of Sharjah, very close to the Etisalat building in the town center.

The Masjid - designed by Architect Shabbir Shafakkat Savliwala of Al Hutaib Engineering Consultants with Janab Behla Bhai Saheb as the pillar of strength and able guidance - has been designed purely on Fatemi concepts. The Fatemi architecture gives the Masjid its unique character and also places it as a jewel in the cultural capital of the Islamic world i.e. Sharjah. Even the interior has been designed by Interior Designer Mrs. Nisreen Shabbir Savliwala of Al Hutaib Engineering Consultants in such a manner that each and every detail has been deliberated on and designed to incorporate the Fatemi concepts.

The Mehrab has been decorated with typical Fatemi designs. Even the Crystal chandelier has been especially hand designed to suit the Fatemi concepts.

The proposed Basement + Ground + 2 upper levels Masjid complex having a total built-up area of more than 65,000 square meters shall accommodate more than 1,500 'masallas' (prayer mats). Maximum use of the difference in the levels has been made so that a basement is possible to accommodate all the services, kitchen area and open parking space.

The complex boasts of 2 Jamaat halls having a capacity of 60 thals each. Amil Saheb's office and other offices are located in the Dar-ul-Emarat block.

The Ta'asees(Foundation laying) Ceremony of this Masjid was performed on the 29th of May 2000, by His Holiness, our Moula Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (TUS).
